Your new role
Use your clinical expertise to make work safer and healthier for colleagues across Abri. As part of our newly established in-house Health Surveillance Team, you’ll help shape a trusted, high-quality service from the outset—combining hands-on clinical practice with the opportunity to influence how we work and make a visible difference every day.
What you’ll do
- You’ll deliver and oversee baseline and periodic health surveillance, including audiometry, spirometry, respiratory questionnaires, hand-arm vibration (HAVS) and skin surveillance.
- With informed consent at the heart of your practice, you’ll explain assessments and outcomes clearly, interpret results within agreed protocols, and act promptly when further testing, workplace adjustments, referral or urgent escalation are needed.
- You’ll coach and support Occupational Health Surveillance Technicians and Coordinators, review and sign off their practice, and deputise for the Occupational Health Surveillance Nurse Manager when required.
- By partnering with Occupational Health, Health & Safety, HR and operational teams, you’ll help ensure surveillance is accessible, effective and aligned with workplace risks.
- You’ll maintain accurate, confidential occupational health records; produce agreed and statutory reports; and contribute to audit, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- You’ll keep equipment, protocols and professional knowledge up to date, practise in line with the NMC Code and relevant guidance, and handle information sensitively.
- You’ll help create an inclusive service where every colleague is treated fairly and with dignity, making reasonable adjustments so people can access the support they need.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- You’ll communicate health information clearly and appropriately, and demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical audit and continuing professional development.
- Experience of interpreting risk assessments, connecting surveillance with workplace hazards, and applying HSE guidance or occupational health standards would be an advantage.
