Role Description

The Occupational Health Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Rochdale, supporting the delivery of occupational health services to a variety of client organisations around the North West and occasionally further afield. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Conducting basic health screenings and assessments (such as blood pressure, vision, hearing, and lung function tests)
  • Assisting with medical surveillance programs
  • Collecting and processing laboratory samples in line with clinical protocols
  • Accurately recording and maintaining health data
  • Supporting clinicians with appointments and follow-up
  • Helping with workplace wellbeing initiatives
  • Communicating with employees and managers to schedule assessments, explain procedures, and promote safe, healthy work practices
  • Adhering to relevant legislation, clinical guidelines, and data protection requirements

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in occupational health or a related clinical field, with knowledge of OH principles.
  • Occupational Health skills, including experience with health assessments, medical surveillance, and workplace health promotion.
  • Skills for safe handling of samples, use of diagnostic equipment, and accurate recording of test results.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with employees, clinicians, and managers, and for explaining procedures clearly and sensitively.
  • Relevant qualification such as an Occupational Health Technician certificate, healthcare assistant diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations, confidentiality, and data protection in a clinical or workplace setting.
  • Good IT skills for electronic record keeping, scheduling, and reporting; ability to work methodically with attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in occupational health, primary care, or workplace health settings is desirable.
