Department: Staff Health & Wellbeing

Band 4: £28,392 - £31,157 per annum

Hours: 37.5hrs per week. All MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

We are seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Health Technician to support the Staff Health & Wellbeing team in delivering high-quality occupational health and wellbeing services. Working under the supervision of Occupational Health Nurses, you will carry out a range of clinical duties, including venepuncture, health surveillance, and providing support to the wider clinical team in line with established policies and procedures. The role also involves promoting staff health and wellbeing through departmental and Trust-wide initiatives, helping to safeguard employees from workplace health risks. Previous occupational health experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided. You will have a strong interest in holistic wellbeing, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to personal and professional development.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team during its SEQOHS accreditation journey and contribute to the continued development of the service within an inclusive and supportive workplace.

The role of the Occupational Health Technician is to support the delivery of high-quality occupational health services to employees and external clients, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

The Occupational Health Technician has a breadth of knowledge and is able to provide holistic support to staff and clients utilising a biopsychosocial model. The Occupational Health Technician works independently and manages their own caseload including conducting health assessments, screenings, and supporting the development and implementation of health policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of employees. Integral to this role is the ability to communicate effectively in a sensitive and compassionate manner, maintaining client confidentiality and escalate or refer to the registered professional effectively. The Occupational Health Technician must focus on maintaining the health and wellbeing of all staff groups within the organisation and within external customer organisations.

As a medium sized general hospital, we provide a full range of general medical and surgical services, including a busy Emergency Department, Maternity, and Paediatrics. As the population of our city and surrounding areas continues to grow rapidly, we are expanding and enhancing our facilities to meet rising demand and improve access to care for all our communities.
