Occupational Health & Wellbeing Lead (Contract)

📍 Birmingham (Hybrid Working – 2 Days Per Week Onsite)
📅 Initial 6-Month Contract | Long-Term Programme Opportunity
🚗 Occasional UK Travel Required

🌱 An outstanding opportunity for a senior Occupational Health, Wellbeing, Health & Safety, or Workplace Health professional to shape strategy, influence industry-leading partners, and drive best practice across one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes.

We're working with a major national infrastructure partnership to recruit an Occupational Health & Wellbeing Lead.

This is a strategic, enterprise-wide position responsible for developing and embedding a consistent approach to Occupational Health and Wellbeing across a multi-billion-pound programme spanning 14 major projects and multiple delivery partners.

Why This Role is Different

This is not a traditional compliance, auditing, or project-specific occupational health role. Instead, you'll act as the central point of leadership for Occupational Health & Wellbeing, bringing together a diverse partnership of organisations, aligning best practices, driving innovation, and creating a shared strategy that supports thousands of workers across a complex delivery environment.

You'll have the opportunity to influence senior leaders, shape enterprise-wide frameworks, and champion initiatives that improve workforce wellbeing, mental health, occupational health standards and long-term organisational performance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the development and implementation of Occupational Health & Wellbeing strategy across a major infrastructure partnership.
  • Acting as the Director's delegated authority for Occupational Health & Wellbeing matters.
  • Bringing together multiple partner organisations to establish consistent standards, approaches and best practices.
  • Developing frameworks, guidance and resources to support occupational health, wellbeing and workplace health initiatives.
  • Leading enterprise-wide Occupational Health & Wellbeing forums and stakeholder groups.
  • Managing strategic relationships with specialist wellbeing providers and charity partners.
  • Producing executive-level reporting, dashboards and insights to support senior decision-making.
  • Driving continuous improvement through lessons learned, innovation and industry best practice.
  • Providing assurance around occupational health risk management, health surveillance, workplace wellbeing and fitness-for-work arrangements.
  • Developing awareness campaigns, training programmes and wellbeing initiatives that create lasting cultural change.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
