Job Title: Occupational Hygiene Technician

Location:

Govan or Scotstoun, 4.5 days per week onsite, half day on Friday.

Salary:

Up to £49,500 dependent on skills and experience

Job description:

Are you looking to develop a career in occupational hygiene, health risk management, or the wider SHE profession?

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Occupational Hygiene team. As an Occupational Hygiene Technician, you will work alongside experienced professionals to help identify, assess and control workplace health risks. You will gain practical experience monitoring exposures such as noise, dust, fumes and chemicals, helping to protect the health and wellbeing of our employees across our shipbuilding operations.

Core duties:

  • Supporting occupational hygiene surveys and workplace exposure monitoring activities.
  • Assisting with noise, dust, fume and chemical exposure assessments.
  • Collecting, recording and managing monitoring data accurately.
  • Supporting the completion of health risk assessments and reports.
  • Working with operational teams to help identify health hazards and effective control measures.
  • Assisting in ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and company standards.
  • Developing your technical knowledge and skills through training and practical experience.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of workplace health programmes.

Essential Skills:

  • Degree-level qualification in a science-related subject (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or similar) or a recognised Health and Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent), with a good interest in progressing a career in Occupational Hygiene.
  • Demonstrate considerable influencing skills to help operationalise, integrate and deliver processes, projects and organisational change
  • Completed BOHS modules, or working towards completion of BOHS modules.

The SHE Technical Services Team:

Acting as subject matter experts, the team works closely with operations, project teams, contractors and leadership to identify, assess and control risks that could impact the health of people, the environment and business performance.

The team delivers specialist monitoring, assessment, compliance and governance activities to ensure legal, regulatory and company requirements are met while supporting the safe and sustainable delivery of business objectives.
