Role Description
This is a full time OR part-time, Community Occupational Therapist role based in Thornaby-On-Tees TERM TIME ONLY! The Occupational Therapist will assess children’s developmental, sensory, and functional needs using standardized and observational tools, and interpret findings to create clear, goal-based treatment plans. Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering individual and group therapy sessions, developing home and school programs, and providing training and guidance to parents, caregivers, and school staff. The role involves maintaining accurate clinical records, preparing reports, and collaborating closely with families, educators, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care. The therapist will also contribute to service development, participate in team meetings, and engage in ongoing professional development to maintain high clinical standards.

- Clinical expertise in Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation, with the ability to assess and treat a range of pediatric functional and sensory needs.
- Foundational knowledge in Pediatrics and Medicine relevant to child development, neurodevelopmental conditions, and common pediatric health issues.
- Strong Communication skills, including the ability to explain clinical findings clearly, build rapport with children and families, and collaborate with schools and other professionals.
- Recognized degree in Occupational Therapy and current professional registration (or eligibility for registration) with the relevant regulatory body.
- Experience in pediatric settings such as schools, clinics, or community services, with familiarity in creating home and classroom-based programs.
- Ability to work independently within a supportive team, manage a part-time caseload effectively, and maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusive practice, and continuous professional learning; enhanced background checks may be required.
- Desirable: Experience with sensory integration approaches, developmental coordination disorder, autism spectrum conditions, and multidisciplinary team working.
- Full, clean, UK driving license
