About the role
Royal Blue Consultants is recruiting an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist for a locum assignment with an NHS service in Shropshire. The placement is for at least 2 months, with a good chance of extension.
You'll be based in Ludlow. You'll also need to travel to Bishop's Castle and across the Ludlow community when the service needs it. You'll help patients move smoothly and safely from acute or community hospital back to the community, working as part of a close multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver a high-quality, seamless OT service from acute or community hospital to community settings
- Carry out full OT assessments covering function, cognition, moving and handling, and home environment, then set and review treatment plans
- Support safe, timely discharge planning, including home visits and access visits
- Assess for, prescribe and arrange equipment and minor adaptations
- Manage your own caseload and prioritise according to clinical need
- Work closely with nursing, physiotherapy, medical, social care and community colleagues
- Keep accurate, timely clinical records in line with HCPC and Trust standards
- Supervise and support Band 5 OTs, support workers and students where needed

Essential requirements
- Current HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy
- Experience at Band 6 level, ideally in acute, community hospital, intermediate care or discharge settings
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car for travel between sites
- Enhanced DBS, or willingness to get one
- Right to work in the UK
