Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Occupational Therapist role based in Colchester. The Occupational Therapist will assess learners’ functional, sensory, and emotional needs, and develop individualized intervention plans to support participation in education and daily activities.
Responsibilities
- Providing direct therapy sessions
- Recommending adaptations to learning environments
- Advising on assistive equipment or strategies that promote independence and engagement
The role involves close collaboration with teaching staff, families, and external professionals to integrate therapeutic goals into educational plans. The Occupational Therapist will maintain accurate records, contribute to reviews and reports, and support safeguarding and wellbeing across the service.

- Candidates should possess strong skills in Occupational Therapy, including assessment, intervention planning, and evidence-based practice.
- Candidates should possess relevant knowledge in Medicine and Rehabilitation to support learners with physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs.
- Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills for working with children, families, multidisciplinary teams, and external agencies.
- Candidates should possess experience or demonstrated interest in Pediatrics, including working with school-aged children and young people with diverse needs.
- Registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC (or eligibility for registration) and a relevant degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Experience in educational or community settings, including work with SEN, vulnerable, or disadvantaged learners, is highly beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to manage a caseload, and commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
