Occupational Therapist (Band 6) - Windermere Lodge

The Doncaster Older Adult mental health ward Windermere Lodge are looking to recruit a Band 6 Occupational Therapist who has experience of working within the specialism of mental health.

The ward is a 20-bedded mixed ward providing inpatient care to patients who are aged 65+ with both organic and functional mental illness. The role plays an integral part in ensuring that the whole multi-disciplinary team works to support patients to engage in meaningful occupations which promote good mental and physical health, assist recovery and help patients achieve their personal goals – such as being able to manage daily living skills, engage in vocational, leisure and educational opportunities and participate in community activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • To carry out assessments and interventions, utilising the OT process, from initial assessment to discharge planning and evaluation.
  • Communicate complex, sensitive, distressing and contentious information effectively and compassionately with service users, carers, and staff in the multi-disciplinary team and other agencies.
  • To establish links with community mental health team occupational therapists and colleagues to ensure service users’ ongoing occupational needs are addressed along with support to access to resources in the wider community as part of a safe effective discharge.
