The Role
We are seeking a Specialist Occupational Therapist with a particular interest in working with children and young people (up to 18 years old) who present with mental health difficulties. The post is based within West Dunbartonshire CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) and involves delivering an Occupational Therapy service within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be supported by a Lead Occupational Therapist and will form part of a wider CAMHS Occupational Therapy Team.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Fixed-term, Part-time
- 21.6 hours per week
- Shift pattern - Monday- Wednesday, 7.2 hrs per day
- Base location - Acorn Centre, Vale of Leven Hospital
Key Responsibilities
- Assess young people experiencing mental health difficulties.
- Contribute to clinical formulation and the development of care plans.
- Support the diagnosis of neurodevelopmental conditions.
- Help young people maximise their occupational performance and participation in daily activities.
- Deliver both individual and group occupational therapy interventions.
- Contribute to the development and shaping of therapeutic group work within the team.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Build effective relationships with children, young people, and their families.
- Apply evidence-based interventions and participate in reflective practice.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist is essential.
- Relevant Occupational Therapy experience that can be transferred to a CAMHS setting.
- Experience in mental health and/or paediatrics is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with children, young people, and families.
- Comprehensive induction provided, including:

- Regular clinical supervision.
