Job Role

This exciting Band 5 rotational occupational therapy role includes rotations in A&E/ AMU, Post Acute Medicine, Specialist Medicine, Surgery, Trauma and orthopaedics, HASU and Stroke Rehabilitation and Neuro Rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the provisions are made for a high quality service for all patients that require Occupational Therapy.
• Carry a caseload of complex patients using evidence-based practice and client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
• Develop links with other departments and facilitate a multidisciplinary team approach.
• Undertake weekend commitments as required.

Key Tasks

• Plan, organise and implement appropriate treatment programs.
• Complete and record risk assessment appropriately and act upon this.
• Implement treatment within local guidelines, Royal College of Occupational Therapy standards and clinical governance.
• Plan and implement individual and/or group interventions, in collaboration with clients and carers, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
• Reflect on treatment provided and adapt treatment accordingly.
• Advise clients and carers on specific aids, equipment and adaptations and recommend provisions.
• Communicate complex information to patients who may have barriers to understanding.
• Respect the individuality, values, culture and religious diversity of clients and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.
• Make appropriate clinical observations and keep accurate records of assessments and interventions in accordance with local and national guidelines.
• Compile clear assessment reports and recommendations for future care, for the multi-disciplinary team and other external agencies.
• Actively contribute and coordinate multi-disciplinary working, including client-related meetings e.g. case conference.
• Work as an autonomous practitioner and display appropriate problem-solving, analytical and judgement skills.
