Occupational Therapist (Adults) – Contract Position
Rate: £28.40 per hour (Umbrella)
Location: Solihull
Service: Adult Social Care
DBS: Enhanced DBS Required
Driving Requirement: Essential Car User Role – Full UK Driving Licence and Access to Own Vehicle Required

- At least 2 Years Post-Qualified Experience (PQE) – DFE form required
- Experience in Reablement
- Proficiency in reducing care packages through Single-Handed Care Practices
- Skilled in conducting Moving & Handling Assessments and Risk Assessments
- Enhanced DBS Check
- DVLA Licence Check Required
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle
Summary
We are looking for a seasoned Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Adult Social Care team. This role focuses on enhancing the independence, wellbeing, and quality of life for adults through a person-centred and strengths-based approach. You will conduct specialized Occupational Therapy assessments, devise practical solutions to lessen dependency on care services, and assist individuals through reablement, equipment provision, moving and handling interventions, and necessary adaptations. This position is ideal for those with substantial experience in reablement services, single-handed care reviews, and optimizing care packages through therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct strengths-based Occupational Therapy assessments.
- Perform functional, cognitive, environmental, and moving & handling assessments.
- Implement reablement-focused interventions to enhance independence.
- Evaluate existing care packages and explore single-handed care solutions.
- Carry out specialized moving and handling risk assessments and develop care plans.
- Assess and recommend equipment, assistive technology, and adaptations.
- Support carers through assessments and intervention planning.
- Conduct Mental Capacity Assessments and participate in Best Interest decisions when necessary.
- Collaborate with health, social care, housing, and community partners.
- Offer professional advice to colleagues, carers, and partner agencies.
- Maintain precise case records and professional reports.
- Mentor less experienced staff, students, and Occupational Therapy Assistants as needed.
Essential
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Current HCPC Registration.
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualified experience.
- Extensive experience in Adult Social Care.

- Moving & Handling Assessments
- Functional Assessments
- Equipment Provision
- Adaptations
- Knowledge of:
- Care Act
- Mental Capacity Act
- Safeguarding
- DFG Legislation
- Occupational Therapy Best Practice
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Strong experience in partnership working.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable
- Experience as a Practice Educator.
- Experience supervising OT Assistants or students.
- Familiarity with Assistive Technology and Technology Enabled Care.
- Experience in Local Authority Adult Social Care services.
