Occupational Therapist – Neurological Rehabilitation, Oxford Head Injury Services
Location: Based at our centre in Kennington, near Oxford, with occasional community-based work.
Salary: £35,000–£42,000, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, with flexible working hours available
Contract type: Permanent
About Us
At Oxford Head Injury Services, we believe rehabilitation does not stop when a patient is discharged from hospital. We are a dedicated neurorehabilitation charity supporting people across Oxfordshire who are recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, brain tumours, and progressive neurological conditions. Free from clinical time constraints, we work in the community, in service users’ homes, and at our specialist centre to help people rebuild meaningful and independent lives.
The Role
Are you a qualified Occupational Therapist with NHS experience who is ready to focus your skills and passion on neurological rehabilitation?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Occupational Therapist to join our close-knit multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will move beyond discharge planning and manage a fulfilling, varied caseload, delivering individually tailored, creative, and longer-term interventions that can make a genuine difference to people’s futures.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive, person-centered assessments for individuals with progressive and non-progressive neurological conditions.
- Design, implement, and adapt holistic treatment plans focusing on cognitive rehabilitation, limb therapy, fatigue management, and independent living skills.
- Conduct environmental, seating, and specialist equipment assessments to maximise individual safety and autonomy.
- Work closely with families, carers, and our interdisciplinary team (including Physiotherapists and Speech Therapists) to provide coordinated care.
- Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of our charity’s innovative rehabilitation projects and approach.
- Travel regularly to OUH sites as required to identify and meet patients who may benefit from our services, and develop relationships with the clinical teams, patients and their families.

Who We Are Looking For
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with active HCPC registration.
- At least 1–2 years of post-qualification experience, ideally completed within an NHS setting (such as rotations in acute medicine, stroke ESD, community rehab, or neuro rehab).
- A solid understanding of neurological conditions, cognitive impairments, and physical rehabilitation.
- A practitioner who thrives in a collaborative, supportive team environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for person-centred, empathetic care.
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for community visits and/or reliable transport to John Radcliffe Hospital.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an online discussion and asked to prepare their questions about the charity and our work, to confirm their own interest in the role.
A final panel interview of 4 staff and volunteers including the CEO, 2 trustees and a professional will be held at our centre, along with a tour of our facilities.
The appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, evidence of HCPC registration, a DBS check, and right-to-work checks.
