Band 2 Occupational Therapy Assistant (Elderly Care)

Exciting opportunity to join a compassionate and aspirational Therapy Team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

The role will entail supporting older people who are admitted into an acute hospital to regain function and independence. A big part of the role involves supporting patients to get home safely.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with qualified Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary teams to deliver a high-quality service for patients.
• Work in line with the trust's CARE values to deliver person-centred care to ensure the best outcomes for patients in our care.
• Work with the Occupational Therapy team to assess and treat patients.
• Work with the MDT and community partner organisations to ensure patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time whenever possible.
• Face-to-face contact with patients, completing 'initial interviews' and information gathering with patients, their next of kin, and other organisations such as social services.
• Delivering Occupational Therapy, working with the guidance of an Occupational Therapist to rehabilitate patients through practicing and supporting activities of daily living such as, washing and dressing, meal preparation, transfers.
• Supporting the completion of home visits with patients along with a qualified therapist.
• Liaison with internal teams to promote a smooth transition for patients from hospital to community.
