We are a growing, founder-led business working with clients across the UK and internationally, and we are looking to strengthen our Odoo delivery team.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Odoo Functional Consultant to join Proven Strategy on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid role, predominantly remote, but the successful candidate must be Manchester-based or within easy travelling distance of Manchester.
You will sit at the centre of our Odoo implementation projects, working directly with clients to understand their operations and translate business requirements into effective Odoo solutions.
This is not simply a configuration role. We are looking for someone who can sit with a client, understand how their business actually works, identify inefficient or manual processes, challenge unclear requirements where appropriate and then design a practical future-state solution within Odoo.
You will work closely with our project management and technical teams throughout discovery, configuration, development, testing, training and go-live.

Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading client discovery sessions and functional workshops
- Understanding existing business processes, systems and operational pain points
- Mapping current-state and future-state workflows
- Translating business requirements into practical Odoo solutions
- Configuring Odoo modules in line with agreed requirements
- Advising clients on where standard Odoo functionality can meet their needs
- Identifying areas where processes may need to change rather than immediately relying on custom development
- Identifying genuine gaps requiring Studio configuration, integration or bespoke development
- Producing functional requirements, workflow documentation and Functional Design Documents
- Working closely with developers to define and review custom functionality
- Supporting integrations between Odoo and third-party systems
- Supporting data migration and data validation
- Preparing User Acceptance Testing scenarios
- Coordinating and supporting UAT
- Investigating issues raised during testing and determining whether they relate to process, configuration, data or development
- Delivering client training
- Supporting users through go-live
- Providing post-go-live functional support
- Reviewing existing Odoo implementations and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Managing multiple client workstreams and priorities
- Maintaining clear project documentation and stakeholder communication
What We Are Looking For
The strongest candidates will combine strong Odoo knowledge with commercial awareness and a genuine understanding of business operations.
We are looking for:
- Hands-on experience with Odoo implementation, configuration or functional consulting
- Experience working in a functional or techno-functional Odoo role
- Strong understanding of end-to-end business processes
- Experience working across areas such as sales, purchasing, inventory, CRM, finance, HR or operations
- Strong requirements-gathering skills
- Experience leading discovery sessions and workshops
- Ability to translate operational requirements into system workflows
- Strong process-mapping and analytical skills
- Experience producing functional specifications and documentation
- Understanding of ERP implementation methodology
- Experience with testing and User Acceptance Testing
- Experience working alongside developers on integrations and bespoke functionality
- Understanding of data migration principles
- Strong stakeholder-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to explain systems clearly to non-technical users
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- A practical and commercially minded approach to problem-solving

Experience with Odoo Accounting, Manufacturing, Barcode, warehouse operations, Shopify integrations or complex inventory environments would be particularly valuable. Odoo certification would be advantageous, but practical experience is more important.
The Type of Person We Want
We are not looking for someone who simply knows where the buttons are in Odoo. We want someone who is comfortable asking questions such as:
- Why is this process done this way?
- Where is data being entered twice?
- Why is this still being managed in Excel?
- Can standard Odoo already solve this?
- Does this process actually need custom development?
- Is there a better way for the client to operate?
You should be comfortable speaking directly with directors, finance teams, warehouse teams, operations teams and end users. The role suits someone who enjoys understanding how businesses work and improving those businesses through better systems.
Location and Working Pattern
This is a full-time, Monday-to-Friday position.
The working model is hybrid and predominantly remote.
However, candidates must be based in Manchester or the surrounding area, as there will be occasions where you will need to attend in person for:
- Client workshops
- Discovery sessions
- Project kick-offs
- Training
- Go-live support
- Internal team meetings
- Key client meetings
Some UK travel may be required depending on client projects.
Visa Sponsorship
Skilled Worker visa sponsorship may be available for suitable candidates, subject to individual eligibility, the role and the relevant sponsorship requirements. We are therefore open to applications from candidates who already have the right to work in the UK as well as experienced candidates who may require sponsorship.
