ODP/Anaesthetics and Recovery Nurse Band 5

The Hospital covers a wide variety of surgical procedures, you will support in assessing patients health and well-being across a complex and changing caseload, assisting in the delivery of care to meet the patients needs. You will actively promote best practice and contribute towards quality improvements, collect collate and organise data, interpret all of the information and make a justifiable assessment, making this available to relevant others.

The successful Operating Department Practitioner or Anaesthetic Nurse will ensure smooth running of the theatres. You will supervise / mentor junior staff (subject to experience) and perform recovery/anaesthetic duties. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills as the unit performs various surgical procedures ranging from General Surgery, Orthopaedic, Urology, Plastics and Ophthalmology.

Day Surgery consists of 7 operating theatres of varying specialities. We also have a brand new refurbished site with an 8 bedded ward.

We are looking for a highly motivated Anaesthetic Nurse or ODP to join our dynamic team in Anaesthetics and PACU.

The post holder will:

  • Provide high quality clinical care to patients, in line with the Trust values and in accordance with professional regulations.
  • Accept delegated responsibility for specific activities/areas from the senior nurse in charge.
  • Work in line with Trust policies, objectives, protocols and local guidelines, whilst also being aware of the importance of their role in supporting members of the team, and always adhering to the Trust values, and in accordance with NMC/HCPC regulations.
  • Work autonomously and with others to always deliver high standards of care to patients and their careers, autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Communicate in line with Trust values, to patients, carers and staff at all times.
  • Take every opportunity to continue to develop, practice and expand their own general and specialist nursing skills.
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical responsibility, and accountability and be aware of the medico-legal aspects of nursing, in line with professional, regulating and local guidance.
