Join Our Team as OET Interlocutor(s) in Manchester!

Mobile Testing Solutions Ltd (“MTS”) is a global exam service provider for a variety of exam boards which also has an online exam preparation school.

We're on the lookout for OET Interlocutor(s) to join our Manchester team on a casual zero-hours basis. If you're someone who thrives in dynamic exam environments and has a keen eye for detail, this role might be your perfect fit.

What You'll Do:

  • Delivery of speaking test scripted role plays and interviews on test day in line with specific requirements of OET Exams
  • Run test interview to time following the script and role play information provided
  • Participate appropriately in role plays with candidates
  • Use recording equipment provided competently and as instructed
  • Maintain consistent delivery of interview for each candidate
  • Appropriate and secure handling of all test materials
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all training/induction and test materials and procedures
  • Ensure that interviews are conducted with no candidate with whom there has been prior professional or social contact
  • Need to carry out the OET certification by completing the online training course
  • Report any issues related to test delivery or candidates to the OET Exams Test Venue Manager
  • Carry out regular audits, guided by the OET Exams Test Venue Manager
  • Use company’s email address and email account for correspondence with MTS colleagues and ensure that MTS’s confidential, internal documents, information and data are not disclosed to anyone other than their intended recipient/reader
  • Use own laptop or desktop PC for self-led e-learning/online training events and Teams or Zoom meetings or training sessions
  • Be willing to use own smartphone and data allowance to access MTS's system
  • Comply fully with MTS’s GDPR, data protection policies, standards and Safeguarding (Children and Vulnerable People) policy and any other signed compliance agreements
  • Participate actively in performance monitoring exercise based on the exam performance for continuous improvement
  • Be smartly dressed as per MTS policy
  • Give our test takers the highest level of customer care, ensure secure and safe exams administration and abiding by the rules and regulations set by each examining body
  • Carry out any other tasks and activities for MTS, according to business priority, as appropriate for this level role

What You Bring:

  • Have a degree or equivalent from a certified university or educational institute
  • Overall language proficiency equivalent to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level C1 or higher
  • Exam administration experience is an advantage, but not essential
  • Clear diction, including minimal interference from the first language in pronunciation
  • Linguistic accuracy (Note: language competencies are not illustrated in terms of being a ‘native speaker’ of English. All prospective Interlocutors, whether English is their first or additional language, must meet the same professional requirements)
  • Ability to communicate in the interview context and participate in the role play competently and confidently
  • Must not be involved with teaching OET
  • Sensitive to local cultural norms/issues and able to interact appropriately with candidates, such a way as to ensure that the candidates provide a sample of English that is representative of their speaking ability
  • Ready to respond to guidance and advice given in the context of training, during monitoring or informally
  • Comfortable with common IT hardware and software
  • Meticulous and organised in your approach
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
  • Collaborative mindset with a can-do attitude
  • Willingness to adapt to varying working hours
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Pay: £8.28 per test taker (inclusive of holiday pay) which is equivalent to around £16.56 (inclusive of holiday pay) per hour as each test takes approximately 30 minutes
  • Flexible Hours: Exams take place twice a month on Saturdays, where interlocution session is conducted between 12.30pm and 6pm in the afternoon time, with occasionally further opportunity to work as Test Administrator in the morning session.
  • Pension Plan: Enrolment in the NEST pension scheme
  • Immediate Start: We're eager to have you on board immediately!
