Job Description

Interested in doing legal work in finance, but not sure where to start? Do you want to see how legal advice shapes business decisions at one of the world’s leading financial institutions?

We're looking for ambitious students to join our 2027 Internship Program within our Group Legal function in London.

Responsibilities

  • Gain first-hand insight into how an in-house legal team supports internal clients, manages legal risk, and contributes to strategic initiatives, including the responsible use of technology and AI in legal work.
  • Assist in analyzing legal matters across a wide range of practice areas, such as UK financial services regulation, commercial contracts, technology, and corporate governance.
  • Conduct legal research and support the preparation of legal notes, briefings, and contractual documentation for business stakeholders.
  • Support legal professionals in advising business and support functions on practical, business-focused legal questions.
  • Contribute to regulatory implementation, digital transformation, and cross-functional projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business, working in risk, compliance, and other corporate functions.

Your Team

You’ll be working within the Group Legal function in London. We provide high-quality legal advice to internal clients across the bank and support strategic, regulatory, and technology-driven initiatives. We work closely with our business partners to help navigate complex UK and international legal and regulatory environments, managing legal risk to enable sustainable business growth. Unlike a traditional legal internship, this role provides insight into how legal advice is embedded in day-to-day business decisions within a global financial institution.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
