Office Administrator — Part Time (20 hours a week)
Stilton Shutters & Blinds Ltd, Yaxley, Peterborough
£13.00 – £15.00 per hour · Monday to Friday, 4 hours a day
We make and fit shutters, blinds and awnings for homes across Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and the surrounding counties. Every job is made to measure, which means every quote and every supplier order has to be exactly right — the wrong figure on an order form becomes a window covering that doesn't fit.
That accuracy is what this job is about.
You'll be the person in the office who turns a surveyor's measurements into a clean quote, gets the order placed with the right supplier, and keeps the numbers straight behind it. It's a real mix of detail work: part sales support, part ordering, part accounts. If you like getting things right and you're comfortable with numbers, it's a satisfying job.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing customer quotes from survey sheets, including splitting quotes correctly between shutters and blinds
- Checking measurements and specifications before anything goes out — catching the errors before they cost us
- Placing orders with our suppliers and tracking them through to delivery
- Checking margins on quotes and orders so jobs are priced properly
- Reconciling the bank in Xero and helping keep our accounts tidy
- General office administration — keeping records up to date, chasing loose ends, supporting the sales and fitting teams

What we're looking for
- Strong attention to detail. This is the one that matters most
- Confident with numbers — you can spot when a figure looks wrong
- Comfortable with technical detail: product specifications, measurements, options and finishes. You don't need to know shutters, we'll teach you, but you do need to enjoy that kind of precision
- Well organised, able to work through a list and finish it
- Good written English for customer and supplier emails
- Competent with computers generally — we use Xero, Pipedrive, Microsoft 365 and our own quoting system

Nice to have, but not essential
- Experience with Xero or another accounts package (bank reconciliation in particular)
- Background in a trade, construction, manufacturing or interiors business
- Experience with a CRM system
We'll train you on our systems and our products. What we can't train is care and accuracy, so that's what we're really hiring for.
What we offer
- £13.00 – £15.00 an hour, depending on experience
- Settled part-time hours — 4 hours a day, Monday to Friday, no weekends and no evenings

- 28 days' pro-rata holiday including bank holidays
This is an office-based role in Yaxley. It would suit someone looking for regular part-time hours that fit around school or family, or someone stepping back from full-time work who still wants to use their head.
