About Us
At algo1, we are reinventing one of the world’s most familiar experiences: the in-store grocery trip. We are building an AI-native product that understands each shopper, responds to their context in real time and makes an everyday experience less stressful, more personal and more engaging.
We’re backed by leading investors and founded by two entrepreneurs: one with a track record of building companies, and the other a leader in retail data and shopper analytics. Together, they have brought together frontier AI researchers and engineers, product and strategy leaders, and senior operators from major UK and US grocery businesses.
The people who join now will have an opportunity to shape the product, the engineering culture, and what algo1 becomes.
The Role
As Office Assistant, you'll be at the heart of algo1's day-to-day life. You'll be the first face visitors see when they walk through the door and a key part of what keeps the office running smoothly, from making sure meetings go well to keeping the space warm, tidy, and full of energy.
This role suits someone who genuinely enjoys people and takes pride in getting the small things right. There's scope to grow into a more hands-on assistant role over time as the team scales.
What You'll Own
- Welcoming visitors: Welcome guests, clients, and important visitors into the office and make them feel at home.
- Supporting meetings: Offer drinks and assistance to visitors, and help meetings run smoothly.
- A well-run office: Keep the office and reception areas tidy, organised, and presentable throughout the day.
- Weekly ordering: Manage weekly office orders, including supplies and food shopping.
- CEO support: Run errands and provide ad-hoc support for the CEO when needed.
- General office support: Help with day-to-day office operations and other tasks as they come up.
- Office atmosphere: Play a key role in creating a positive, energetic, and happy office environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
