About the Role
Our client is a market-leading UK manufacturer of fire & smoke protection systems, trusted by tier 1 contractors and developers.
A broad, hands-on role at the centre of a fast-growing, innovation-led SME. You will own the day-to-day running of the business: office administration, bookkeeping and financial reporting, HR and training, facilities, and internal IT including AI adoption - plus EA support to the Managing Director.
This will suit someone whose satisfaction comes from getting the best out of well-paid, capable people rather than from personal achievement alone. You will be responsible for efficient office operations, accurate financial and employee records, and making sure company systems operate effectively - including company accreditations (ISO, office health & safety), 3-year rolling budget forecasting and resource planning, and accounts and financial reporting including variance root cause analysis.

- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, telephone calls and emails
- Maintain accurate company records, filing systems and documentation
- Ensure all administrative tasks and paperwork are completed accurately and on time
- Support customer service activities and maintain professional client relationships

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
