Officer, Estates and Facilities (FCS58)

Contract: Permanent, working 35 hours per week.

Salary: £33,643 per annum Grade D plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme and generous annual leave.

Location: Manchester (office based)

We are looking for an Officer, Estates and Facilities to strengthen our team based at our head office in Manchester in recognition of the importance of providing our employees with a high standard of office environment to work in that is safe, comfortable and well equipped where employees are welcomed and supported.

Based in Manchester, your work will support our North Area offices – Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle so the role will include some work-related travel.

You will engage with office users locally and from across the organisation, building management representatives, suppliers and contractors and external visitors ensuring a professional service and strong relationships. You will also be responsible for the sign-off and control of the reactive and planned works budgets, in line with the overall building budget and deputise for the Senior Facilities Manager where appropriate, ensuring essential facilities updates are communicated clearly to local teams and relevant national colleagues.

This role would suit someone who:

  • Is reliable and able to adjust working hours to suit the needs of the role where out of hours working may occasionally be required
  • Has experience of working in a facilities, estates, property, office management or building services environment.
  • Able to provide a reliable, responsive and professional service to colleagues, visitors or customers.
  • Has experience of coordinating maintenance activities and supporting contractor or supplier relationships.
  • Possesses strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, balance competing tasks, follow up actions and use sound judgement in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the confidence to work constructively with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders where there is no formal line-management relationship.
  • Confident using Microsoft 365, including Teams, Outlook, Word and Excel, with the ability to maintain accurate records and use office systems effectively.
  • Good knowledge of workplace health and safety responsibilities, including risk assessment, DSE requirements and the importance of maintaining safe and accessible office environments.
