Minimum Requirements

  • BCom (Hons) in Risk Management or a relevant B Degree (Hons) (Essential/Minimum)
  • 6-8 years of experience in Enterprise Risk Management within the mining industry (Essential/Minimum)
  • Knowledge of corporate governance and policy development practices
  • Certification from the Institute of Risk Management SA or Institute of Internal Auditors (Essential/Minimum)
  • Management Development Programme (Recommended/Desirable)
  • Strong understanding of Business Continuity Management and combined assurance processes
  • Proficiency in coordinating and facilitating audits and risk management training
  • Experience in stakeholder management and fostering stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrated ability in creativity, innovation, and collaboration in a professional setting
  • Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
  • Psychometric assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement Business Continuity Management (BCM) plans and ensure roles are maintained at the Business Unit.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for risk management activities, including the facilitation of risk review sessions and submissions of quarterly risk reports.
  • Lead combined assurance activities by coordinating internal and external audits and supporting management in resolving audit reports.
  • Ensure alignment and consistent application of governance standards, policies, and procedures within the Business Unit.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) policies and fostering a safety-first culture.
  • Provide governance training and awareness, assist with policy management, and ensure delegation of authority is properly applied.
  • Facilitate stakeholder management to enhance Business Unit effectiveness and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Consolidate policies to prevent inconsistencies, monitor adherence, and report on governance and risk management progress.
  • Support continuous learning, creativity, and innovation to address business needs and improve business solutions.
  • Promote accountability, stewardship, and ethical behavior across all operations while ensuring transparency in governance processes.
