A Snapshot of Your Day
As an Offshore 3D Manager, you will primarily lead the digital engineering and 3D design approach for HVAC offshore substations delivered by the Manchester team. You will collaborate with engineering teams, clients, suppliers, and global delivery centres to develop and maintain coordinated 3D models, design processes, and supporting standards. You will also work closely with the HVDC headquarters team in Hamburg to extend established HVDC 3D design processes and enable effective blended-team working between Manchester and Hamburg.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Own and develop the Offshore Engineering UK digitalisation process, defining how 3D models interact with 2D drawings, technical specifications, equipment lists, supplier information, and multidisciplinary engineering deliverables.
- Implement the Offshore Engineering UK 3D engineering process by creating and maintaining model libraries, templates, methods, and efficient working practices.
- Manage the workload and priorities of 1-3 dedicated 3D engineers, coordinating resources to meet tender and project requirements.
- Lead 3D model coordination across engineering disciplines, suppliers, clients, consortium partners, and other internal departments.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to increase quality, standardisation, collaboration, and engineering efficiency.
- Support tenders and projects through model governance, design reviews, interface management, clash detection, and BIM coordination.
- Work closely with the headquarters team in Hamburg on the 3D design of HVDC offshore substations.
- Establish practical methods for extending the HVDC 3D design process to enable effective blended-team working between Manchester and Hamburg.
- Own and implement the Manchester element of the HVDC 3D design process as an extension of the established process in Hamburg.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
