Offshore Mechanical Welding Inspector – UK Offshore Wind
£585 per day (outside IR35) + min 3 month contract+ (3wks on, 3wks off rotation)
Responsibilities
Welding & Subsea Inspections
- Verify subsea/hyperbaric welding operations align with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
- Witness and log essential variables for automated or manual underwater welding.
Fit-Up Inspection
- Monitor pipelay/cable protection installation, including the layout and mechanical jointing of underwater components.
- Review and witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) results of structural girth welds.

Mechanical Completion & Quality Assurance
- Inspect Monopiles (MPs), Transition Pieces (TPs), secondary steelwork, and mechanical systems.
- Document deviations, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and manage mechanical completion checklists within the project’s management system.
Experience & Qualifications
- Industry Experience: 5+ years of experience in offshore pipeline installation, heavy marine steel fabrication, or offshore wind structural inspection.
- Welding/NDT Certifications: CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 (Welding Inspector) or CSWIP 3.4U (Underwater Inspection Engineer if coordinating dive/ROV subsea work).
- Standards Knowledge: Strong understanding of DNV-ST-F101 (Subsea pipelines), API 5L, and ISO welding standards.
- AUT a bonus.
