Offshore Subsea Mechanical Engineer
We’re supporting our retained client, a rapidly expanding Subsea Engineering Specialist Solutions Provider, to appoint an experienced Offshore Project Engineer (Subsea) to join their high-growth engineering team.
This position is pivotal in delivering complex subsea tooling projects, combining hands-on engineering, structured project management, and confident client-facing technical leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong subsea design capability, ideally including ROV / Tooling, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where innovation, safety and delivery excellence are non-negotiable.
The role includes c2+ months per year offshore, so applicants must be fully comfortable with regular offshore deployment.
Key Requirements:
- Project delivery: Lead new subsea tool builds and live engineering projects from concept through to offshore execution.
- Design engineering: Develop innovative mechanical solutions for subsea operations and tooling challenges.
- Technical execution: Support technical and administrative activities for the Head of Engineering.
- Cost & schedule control: Manage budgets, timelines and resource planning to ensure on-time, on-spec delivery.
- Documentation: Produce engineering procedures, test packs, operational documentation and bid support materials.
- Peer review: Review engineering deliverables and contribute to structured design reviews.
- Client support: Provide technical input during tendering, proposals and client discussions.
- Design verification: Create new designs and perform FEA to validate tooling integrity and performance.
- Offshore leadership: Significant offshore time supporting operations, mobilisation and troubleshooting.
- Equipment readiness: Prepare, modify, certify and maintain subsea equipment.
- Diagnostics & repair: Test, diagnose and repair subsea systems and tooling.
- HSE compliance: Report incidents, non-conformances and uphold safety standards.

Skills & Experience Essential:
- Subsea/mechanical engineering experience: 5+ years.
- Offshore subsea engineering: Extensive offshore exposure strongly preferred.
- Mechanical & hydraulic capability: Strong practical engineering skillset.
- Problem solving: Able to deliver workable, pragmatic solutions.
- Global travel flexibility: Including short-notice mobilisation.
- Communication: Confident written and verbal communicator.
- Working style: Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
- MS Office: Strong capability.
- English fluency: Written and spoken.
- 3D CAD: SolidWorks or similar.

Desirable:
- Mechanical Engineering degree or similar.
- Subsea Oil & Gas experience.
- ISO 9001 / DNV familiarity.
- Subsea tooling background - preferred but not essential.
- Multidisciplinary project experience.
- Industry legislation knowledge.
