We are currently recruiting for an experienced Offshore Telecoms Technician to support operations within the Morecambe offshore asset team.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on maintaining the reliability, availability and safe operation of offshore telecoms systems and associated equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for planned and unplanned maintenance, fault finding, inspections, repair, replacement and system modification activities, working closely with the offshore E&I and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

The Offshore Telecoms Technician will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on offshore telecoms systems and associated equipment.
  • Undertaking first-line troubleshooting and fault finding to minimise operational disruption.
  • Performing inspections, testing and calibration activities and taking corrective action where required.
  • Prioritising and planning maintenance activities in line with offshore work programmes and operational requirements.
  • Supporting the maintenance and reliability of safety-critical and associated telecoms systems.
  • Recording maintenance activities, work orders, system modifications and technical information within the maintenance management system.
  • Identifying spare parts and replacement equipment requirements and supporting stock requisition activities.
  • Supervising specialist vendors and contractors carrying out telecoms repair or maintenance activities.
  • Reviewing the quality of contractor work to ensure it meets required industry, legislative and operational standards.
  • Producing accurate handover information and communicating technical issues effectively between offshore shifts and onshore support teams.
  • Supporting fault investigations and root cause analysis following equipment failures.
  • Participating in safety briefings and offshore emergency response duties as required.
  • Maintaining high standards of HSEQ compliance throughout all work activities.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Proven offshore telecoms experience within the E&P / oil & gas sector.
  • A vocational qualification or equivalent background in Electrical, Instrument or Telecoms Engineering.
  • Strong experience in offshore maintenance, fault finding and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of testing, calibration and maintenance practices.
  • Experience working within planned maintenance / maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions in an offshore environment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience working alongside production, maintenance and E&I teams.
  • Confidence liaising with onshore technical specialists and external vendors.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Offshore Telecoms Technician to join an established offshore operations team and take responsibility for the ongoing reliability and performance of critical telecoms equipment. The role would particularly suit someone with a strong maintenance and troubleshooting background who is comfortable working autonomously offshore while collaborating closely with E&I, production and maintenance personnel.
