OHL LE1 Operative – Transmission
Location: Site Based – UK Wide
Employment: Full-time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Site based – UK wide
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience + benefits
ARCA Consulting is supporting an established and growing business in the appointment of an experienced Overhead Line (OHL) LE1 Operative to support the safe and efficient delivery of overhead line construction projects across the UK.
This is a hands-on and technically focused role, ideal for an experienced OHL operative with strong transmission experience, excellent safety awareness and the confidence to provide technical support and guidance to LE2 Operatives and Trainees on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out OHL construction, installation, maintenance, refurbishment and dismantling activities across transmission projects.
- Support the OHL Foreman with daily site planning, coordination and delivery.
- Ensure all works are completed safely and in line with RAMS, drawings, specifications and HSEQ requirements.
- Monitor quality, site records, equipment and programme issues, escalating concerns where required.
- Lead by example on health, safety and environmental standards across site activities.
- Support, mentor and develop LE2 Operatives and Trainees.
- Work professionally and collaboratively with clients, subcontractors and wider project teams.

About You
- Experience working as an LE1 Operative within the transmission and distribution sector.
- Proven experience delivering overhead line construction projects.
- Strong technical understanding of OHL construction across 132kV–400kV projects.
- Excellent understanding of RAMS, working at height and safe systems of work.
- Relevant National Grid competencies.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Confident supporting and mentoring junior operatives.
- Safety-focused with excellent attention to detail.
- Proactive, reliable and comfortable taking ownership on site.
Desirable qualifications and experience include National Grid Competent Person Authorisations, First Aid at Work, Rescue from Height, CPCS plant qualifications, EUSR or CSCS Skilled Worker Card, and lifting or rigging experience.
