We’re looking for a passionate OHL Workforce Readiness Specialist to join our Overhead Lines – Safety and Engineering Team!
As a Workforce Readiness Coordinator, you'll play a key role in supporting the readiness and success of our Overhead Lines workforce. Providing tactical coordination and administrative support, you'll help maintain accurate role, recruitment, onboarding, training, and competence records while working closely with a diverse range of stakeholders.
You'll be responsible for consolidating workforce readiness data, managing action trackers and training matrices, and ensuring MyHub alignment so that all Overhead Lines roles are accurately reflected, maintained, and kept up to date. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to workforce excellence, support operational delivery, and help build a skilled, future-ready workforce.
This role can be based from any of our locations, and we support a hybrid way of working. We're also happy to discuss any additional flexibility or adjustments you may need to help make the role work for you.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinate and consolidate existing and expected OHL operational and training requirements ensuring current information is brought together into a clear Workforce Readiness view.
- Work with Operations Managers to confirm strategic volumes for apprentices, direct hires, training scheme requirements, Project Lead nominations, and SAP nominations.
- Use the Strategic Workforce Plan to operationalise modelled workforce requirements for OHL, including engagement with relevant stakeholders. Develop a consolidated recruitment forecast that defines what roles are required, when recruitment activity is needed, and how demand aligns to operational plans working with Workforce analysts and recruitment.
- Build and maintain training matrices for all OHL roles, expanding existing operational role matrices to include wider OHL roles and capability requirements.
- Baseline current capabilities and develop entries covering technical competence, authorisations, experience, and soft skills requirements.
- Develop a combined recruitment, onboarding, and training plan, working with asset operations workforce strategy team and other stakeholders to bring existing information into one coordinated plan.
- Identify competence gaps by comparing current baseline competence against future capability requirements and operational demand.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
