Oil Block Trade Broker – Futures & Options

Location: London
Compensation: Competitive base salary + performance-linked bonus

Imperium Commodity Search is confidentially retained to recruit an experienced Oil Block Trade Broker to join a growing and established energy brokerage business in London. Our client is a recognised participant in the European wholesale energy markets, operating a highly regarded voice and electronic execution model and continuing to expand its product capability across energy derivatives.

Following continued investment in the business, they are now looking to develop their presence within the oil derivatives and block trading markets and are interested in speaking with experienced brokers who can bring genuine product knowledge, strong market relationships and a proven execution track record.

The Role – Oil Block Trading

The successful individual will focus on arranging and executing block trades across the oil derivatives markets, working with professional trading counterparties including oil majors, trading houses, banks, hedge funds, refiners and other institutional market participants. Depending on individual product expertise, coverage could include areas such as:

  • Brent and WTI crude oil futures and options
  • Gasoil, diesel and middle distillates
  • Gasoline / RBOB
  • Heating oil
  • Fuel oil
  • Crude and refined-product spreads
  • Related ICE and CME/NYMEX contracts

The business is open to brokers with particular strength in an individual part of the barrel as well as those covering a broader range of oil products.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience within crude, middle distillates, gasoline, fuel oil or oil options would all be relevant. Candidates do not necessarily need to cover every oil product. Of greater importance is genuine market credibility within their specialist area, established counterparty relationships and the ability to generate and execute meaningful trading flow.

Why This Opportunity?

This represents an opportunity to join an established and highly regarded energy brokerage while playing an important role in the development of its oil offering.

The company offers:

  • An established institutional client infrastructure
  • Strong technology and exchange connectivity
  • An entrepreneurial environment where experienced brokers can have a material impact
  • The opportunity to help develop a growing oil franchise rather than simply joining another large established desk
  • Competitive remuneration linked directly to performance
  • Significant scope for longer-term development as the business expands

If this opportunity matches your experience and career ambitions, please send your CV/Resume to Zuzana Zvolenská at zuzana.zvolenska@imperiumcs.com or click the apply button.
