Help older adults stay active, independent and confident.
Do you enjoy working with people and want a role where you can make a genuine difference every day?
We're looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Exercise Tutor to join our friendly Physical Activity team, supporting older adults across South Cherwell.
Our Physical Activity service helps older people improve their strength, balance and confidence, enabling them to remain active, independent and connected to their communities. Whether you're leading a group exercise session, encouraging someone who lacks confidence, or helping a participant take their next step towards a healthier lifestyle, you'll play an important role in improving lives.
This is much more than an exercise instructor role. We're looking for people who enjoy building relationships, creating welcoming environments and supporting individuals to achieve their goals. If you're passionate about helping others, we'd love to hear from you.
About The Role
You will deliver evidence-based strength and balance sessions in community settings, helping older adults to improve their physical wellbeing and reduce their risk of falls. You'll work closely with participants throughout their journey, from initial assessments and enrolment through to programme completion, helping them stay motivated, engaged and supported. You will also take responsibility for the day-to-day management of your classes, including participant communication, attendance management, assessments, record keeping, and ensuring sessions run safely and smoothly. Working alongside healthcare professionals and community partners, you'll be part of a service that makes a meaningful difference to the health and wellbeing of older people.
Location: Community venues across South Cherwell
Hours: 21 - 35 hours a week (Monday - Friday)
Hourly rate: £14.14 - £15.14, depending on qualifications and experience.
Closing date: We are keen to fill the role and will be interviewing suitable candidates as applications are received. Early applications are therefore encouraged. Interviews will take place on a rolling basis, with the recruitment process remaining open until 2 November 2026 unless the position is filled sooner.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
