Job Summary

Responsible for producing, reviewing and contributing to Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) engineering designs, including calculations, drawings, technical inputs and design deliverables, in accordance with company assurance processes, applicable standards, project requirements, agreed programmes and budgets.

Duties

Primary Tasks And Duties:

The tasks/duties below are indicative of the works required (not exhaustive)

  • Undertake engineering in accordance with the quality management system, to meet agreed programmes and budgets.
  • Undertake engineering in accordance with appropriate International and National Standards.
  • Where determined competent act as Checker of designs as appropriate.
  • Ensure that the Company Design Assurance is applied to all allocated projects.
  • Assist in the determination of the design scope and the subsequent preparation of the valuation of design elements work as part of the tendering process.
  • Undertake/assist in site surveys.
  • Supervision of graduate engineers and assistant engineers, in the production and checking of design calculations and drawings.
  • Checking the work of CAD technicians.

  • Such duties and tasks as are allocated at the discretion of the Company. Such duties will be within capabilities, qualifications and certification of the post holder.
  • Assist in maintaining Design Procedures to ensure they meet the company’s quality and environmental procedures and current best engineering practice.

Person Specification

Essential:

Qualifications and Training

  • Degree qualified in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of Post-Graduation proven electrification experience.
  • Demonstrate application of, and compliance to Engineering Assurance processes and requirements that relate specifically to the discipline for which they are being appointed.
  • Certification in CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.

Knowledge

  • Experience of reviewing works to ensure discipline technical requirements are met and relevant discipline standards are complied with e.g. Discipline CR-Ts.
  • Understanding of different engineering disciplines and the relationships and interdependencies between them with participation in all Interdisciplinary Coordination activities.
  • Shall have a sound understanding of the Risk Assessment process.
  • Knowledge of relevant International and National engineering standards.
  • Understanding of safety, quality, and environmental issues.
  • Knowledge of design range applicable to current project.
  • Awareness of Commercial and Design process.
  • Experience of materials allocations and build sequence.

Skills and abilities

  • Possess good leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to direct technical resource and labour as required.
  • Ability to monitor compliance of delivery.
  • Ability to plan resources to meet programme dates and budget i.e. monitor and report own hours and the hours of the team.
  • Ability to implement practises to meet technical requirements.
  • Time management.
  • Experience in using CAD and CDE software.

Desirable:

  • Progression to CEng within relevant Engineering Council Approved Body (IMechE, ICE, IET, PWI).
  • Ability to read contract requirements and implement the technical requirements specified therein.
  • Advanced Office 365 specifically Excel.
