O&M Technician – Solar PV & BESS

Location: South Midlands, UK | Permanent

A leading global EPC contractor is expanding its UK renewable energy operations and is looking for an experienced O&M Technician to support the operation and maintenance of utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified technician with strong renewable energy experience who enjoys hands-on work, fault finding, and maintaining high-performing energy infrastructure.

The Role

You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation and maintenance of renewable energy sites, ensuring electrical systems remain safe, reliable, and operational.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative and corrective maintenance across LV and HV electrical systems
  • Diagnosing and rectifying electrical faults across DC/LV systems and associated equipment
  • Supporting testing, commissioning, and electrical maintenance activities
  • Producing RAMS and LV switching schedules for scheduled works
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and site documentation
  • Supervising specialist subcontractors and third-party contractors
  • Supporting emergency response and fault rectification
  • Working with the Operations Management Team to resolve site issues
  • Promoting strong HS&E standards and identifying opportunities for operational improvement
  • Participating in on-call/standby arrangements where required

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Electrical Engineering background
  • UK-recognised electrical qualification / Qualified Electrician status
  • 3+ years' experience working as a Field Technician within Solar PV and/or BESS
  • Strong practical maintenance and mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with electrical fault finding, testing, and commissioning
  • Knowledge of Solar PV electrical systems and connections
  • HV Authorised Person (AP2/AP3 or equivalent)
  • Experience with electrical test equipment, IR testing, VLF testing, and diagnostics
  • Experience across renewable energy O&M, construction, or commissioning environments
  • Good understanding of UK electrical regulations and H&S requirements
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites

  • SCADA / remote monitoring experience
  • HV switching experience
  • First Aid or IOSH qualification
