  • Monday to Thursday: 08:00 - 17:00
  • Friday: 08:00 - 16:00

Join our vibrant and inclusive Ministry of Justice Facilities Management team, delivering critical services that help prisons operate safely and efficiently.

At Amey, we support His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service by maintaining safe, clean and effective facilities across 60 secure premises in England and Wales. As an Electrician, you will help keep essential electrical systems safe, compliant and operational, contributing to a secure and well-maintained environment for staff and residents.

This is an opportunity to use your technical expertise in a meaningful setting while building a stable, long-term career with access to training and progression.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver planned and preventative electrical maintenance to keep essential systems safe, compliant and operational.
  • Diagnose faults and resolve electrical issues efficiently across the prison estate.
  • Complete like-for-like replacements and minor electrical works, carrying out inspections, testing and recording results in accordance with BS 7671.
  • Support the Responsible Person and Authorised Person when required.
  • Apply Health & Safety standards, risk assessments and safe systems of work consistently.
  • Support escorting and wider operational duties to help the site run safely and effectively.

What You Will Bring

  • A proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage priorities and work to deadlines.
  • A Level 2 electrical qualification.
  • BS 7671 18th Edition certification. Candidates with 17th Edition certification will also be considered, with support to upskill.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, the Electricity at Work Regulations and planned preventative maintenance.
  • The ability to work independently, use your initiative and work safely at height.
  • Basic IT skills and the ability to maintain clear and accurate records.
  • Experience or knowledge of fire alarm and CCTV systems would be advantageous but is not essential.

Security Clearance

As this position is based within a custodial environment, Prison Security Clearance and a standard DBS check will be required. Amey will support the successful candidate through this process.
