We are expanding our Engineering Department and are now looking for an On-Site Technology and Utility Piping Manager.

- Can you supervise utility and process piping works safely, efficiently and to a high quality on industrial project sites?
- Can you coordinate contractors, materials, permits and interfaces with other disciplines to keep works progressing on schedule?
- Can you identify practical site issues, resolve minor clashes and support approved design adaptations during installation?
- Can you lead piping works through testing, mechanical completion and handover to commissioning?
Role Overview
As a Technology Piping & Utility Manager for construction activities, you will be responsible for the safe, timely and high-quality execution of utility and technology piping works on industrial projects within the insulation production industry. The role is primarily site-based and covers execution from engineering completion through installation, testing, mechanical completion and handover to commissioning.
The role involves a three-weeks-on, one-week-off rotation, with work across various European locations depending on project requirements, including irregular hours and challenging site conditions where needed.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supervise daily installation of utility and process piping, pipe supports, skids, valves, fittings, drains, vents and connections to consumers.
- Coordinate contractors, work fronts, materials, permits and interfaces with other disciplines.
- Depending on project size and complexity, lead and manage a team of utility and piping supervisors.
- Monitor progress and resolve site constraints to maintain the construction schedule.
- Verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, safety requirements and quality standards.
- Coordinate inspections, pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, reinstatement and punch-list closure.
- Identify minor clashes and constructability issues as well as to complete small-bore piping and final connections; coordinate approved site adaptations and maintain red-line drawings.
- Validate and control change orders and claims from technical as well as cost perspective.
- Lead walk-downs and ensure mechanical completion.
- Prepare handover documentation for commissioning.

What we’re looking for:

What we’d love for you to have:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a specialism or background in Process Engineering or Energy Engineering.
- Technical qualification in mechanical engineering, process engineering, piping or industrial installation.
- Proven site experience supervising utility and process-piping installation on industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, including carbon steel and stainless-steel pipework, fittings, flanges, valves, supports, drains, vents and insulation interfaces.
- Practical understanding of process equipment and connections, including pumps, tanks, heat exchangers, compressors, boilers, pressure vessels and filters.
- Ability to read and markup P&IDs, layouts, isometrics, line lists, valve lists and equipment data sheets.
- Skilled in using AutoCAD and Navisworks for daily work tasks, including viewing, checking, and basic coordination.
- Experience with fabrication, erection, welding coordination, flange management, pressure testing, flushing, reinstatement and mechanical completion.
- Ability to resolve minor site clashes, manage approved red-line changes and complete small-bore and final consumer connections.
- Experience managing subcontractors and working with construction, quality, engineering and commissioning teams.
- Working knowledge of site safety, permit-to-work systems, inspection and test plans and quality control.
- Valid driving license.
- Design and constructability knowledge.
- Working knowledge of piping design principles, including routing, accessibility, support requirements, clearances, drainage, venting and maintainability.
- Ability to identify and resolve minor design gaps and clashes on site in coordination with engineering.
- Capability to develop practical solutions for small-bore piping, tie-ins and final equipment connections within approved design standards.
- Ability to prepare clear red-line mark-ups and site queries, and to escalate changes requiring formal engineering approval.

Due to the nature of the role, which involves frequent assignments across various European locations, candidates must be legally able to undertake such assignments without requiring Knauf to obtain additional work authorisations for each assignment.
