FDM Group is seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our Leeds-based Team as a Vetting & Onboarding Manager.
The Vetting & Onboarding Manager is responsible for the delivery, governance and continuous improvement of all pre-employment screening, background checking, onboarding and related compliance processes across the organisation.
This is a key role ensuring all employees, contractors and consultants meet internal, legal, regulatory and client-specific vetting requirements before commencing work whilst delivering a seamless and professional onboarding experience.
Reporting into the People function, you will own the end-to-end vetting and onboarding processes, driving compliance, operational excellence and continuous improvement. You will lead a specialist team, manage external screening providers, and work closely with Recruitment, HR, Legal, IT, Security, Operations and client-facing teams to ensure robust controls, exceptional service delivery and an outstanding candidate experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end vetting, background screening and onboarding function across the business.
- Ensure all pre-employment checks are completed compliantly and in line with company, client and legal requirements.
- Oversee onboarding for employees, contractors, fixed-term employees and returners, ensuring readiness before start date.
- Manage screening suppliers, monitor SLA/KPI performance and lead supplier governance activities.
- Own vetting policies, compliance controls, audits, risk management and reporting.
- Lead, coach and develop the vetting and onboarding team, driving high performance and service excellence.
- Drive continuous improvement through process optimisation, automation, systems enhancement and data-driven reporting.
- Accountable for compliance, service delivery, onboarding readiness, stakeholder satisfaction and reduction of onboarding risks and exceptions.

About You
Essential Experience
- Significant experience in vetting, screening, onboarding, compliance or people operations.
- Previous team management experience.
- Experience managing third-party suppliers.
- Strong knowledge of right to work and pre-employment screening requirements.
- Experience of HRIS and recruitment systems.
- Experience producing management information and compliance reporting.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of BPSS, SC or other government vetting processes.
- Experience within professional services, consultancy or technology sectors.
- Experience leading process improvement, transformation or onboarding technology projects.
