Role Overview

As a Shift Leader, your role involves:

  • Team Coordination: Ensuring the team delivers the best shopping experience for the community.
  • Store Operations: Overseeing opening/closing, duty cover, and safety.
  • Customer Support: Being the go-to person for operational queries in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Event Management: Assisting in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events.
  • Store Maintenance: Ensuring the store is clean, tidy, and well-presented.
  • Product Management: Prioritizing the replenishment of key products and maintaining accurate labeling.
  • Customer Service: Prioritizing customer satisfaction, resolving queries, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  • Team Leadership: Coordinating colleagues, managing queues, and ensuring everyone delivers daily priorities.
  • Health and Safety: Adhering to company health and safety routines.
  • Communication: Keeping the team informed and looking for ways to simplify operations.
  • Keyholder Responsibilities: Attending alarm call-outs and ensuring the safety and security of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the team for an excellent shopping experience.
  • Open/close the store and ensure all decisions prioritize safety.
  • Act as the go-to person for operational queries.
  • Support the Store Manager in organizing events.
  • Maintain store cleanliness and presentation.
  • Prioritize product replenishment.
  • Ensure point of sale and shelf edge labels are accurate.
  • Address overcharges and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Manage in-store queues effectively.
  • Coordinate colleagues for daily tasks and breaks.
  • Be knowledgeable about store operations and improvements.
  • Follow health and safety routines.
  • Communicate effectively with the team.
  • Suggest ways to simplify operations.
  • Always prioritize customer satisfaction.
  • Resolve customer queries promptly.
  • Adjust service to meet individual customer needs.
  • Recognize and celebrate excellent service.
  • Identify and remove obstacles to great service.
  • Resolve colleague queries or escalate to the Store Manager.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and cover for absences.
  • Attend alarm call-outs as a Keyholder.
  • Monitor and act on internal communications.
  • Coordinate colleagues to meet customer and operational needs.
  • Balance time between service and replenishment areas.
  • Support the Store Manager in managing absence and return-to-work interviews.
  • Build relationships with the Area Manager and People Partner.
