1:1 SEN Support Assistant
Location: Rochdale
Contract: Temp to Perm
Full Time/Part Time: Full time
Pay: £105-£120 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Expected End Date: Long term ongoing, with the opportunity to become permanent
Hours: 08:30-3:40
A welcoming and supportive school in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering the successful candidate the chance to secure a permanent position within the school.
The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence and feel confident within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs
- Supporting the pupil to access classroom learning and activities
- Adapting learning and communication approaches to meet individual needs
- Supporting emotional regulation, positive behaviour and social development
- Helping the pupil develop confidence, independence and positive relationships
- Supporting the implementation of EHCP targets and individual support plans
- Monitoring and reporting on the pupil's progress and wellbeing
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
- Creating a calm, nurturing and inclusive environment for the pupil

The Successful Applicant Will
- Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN or additional needs
- Ideally have experience working on a 1:1 basis within an educational or care setting
- Have a patient, caring and nurturing approach
- Be confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
- Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be reliable, proactive and resilient
- Have the right to work in the UK and full-time availability
- SEN-related qualifications or Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification (desirable)
- Experience or training in autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs or other additional needs (desirable)
