1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Whitefield, Greater Manchester
Contract: Temporary (Long-Term)
Full time/Part time: Full Time (Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm)
Pay: £102-£115 per day (depending on experience)
Start date: September 2026
Expected End date: End of the academic year (with the potential to continue)
A welcoming and inclusive specialist SEN school in Whitefield is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This long-term opportunity will involve providing dedicated support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning, develop independence and achieve their individual targets throughout the academic year.
The school supports pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and moderate learning difficulties. Staff work collaboratively to create a nurturing, structured environment where every child is encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to deliver personalised support in line with the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), promoting engagement, confidence and positive outcomes throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs both in and out of the classroom.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil's individual learning style and needs.
- Support emotional regulation, communication and social interaction.
- Implement strategies outlined in the pupil's EHCP and behaviour support plans.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence and independence.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and the SEN team.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, parents and other professionals.
- Promote positive behaviour and support the development of life and social skills.

The Successful Applicant Will
- Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND, either in education, care or a similar setting.
- Be patient, resilient and nurturing, with a proactive approach.
- Have experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or other additional needs.
- Be confident supporting behaviour positively and promoting emotional regulation.
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Have the right to work in the UK and be available to work full time.

Desirable
- Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification.
- Previous experience working in a 1:1 role.
- PECS, Makaton or other alternative communication training.
- Team Teach, MAPA or other positive behaviour management training.
