Duration: End of FEED (June 2027) initially
Start Date: November 2026
The Opportunity
Blue Gem Wind Ltd (BGW) is responsible for developing the first 100MW Test and Demonstration (T&D) Floating Offshore Wind Farm in the Celtic Sea, project Erebus. Erebus is located approximately 44 km southwest of the Pembrokeshire coastline, within a project site boundary of approximately 43.5 km². The Project has:
- an Agreement for Lease signed with The Crown Estate for up to 100 MW
- a grid connection agreement
- secured its primary consents in March 2023
- been awarded a Contract for Difference (CfD) during UK CfD Allocation Round 7 in January 2026.
The project has already completed both Pre-FEED (February 2020 - September 2021) and FEED (October 2021 - September 2023) phases covering all engineering packages. The Erebus Project is now preparing for a FEED update phase following the successful award and execution of a CfD in Jan 2026 and adapting to key floating wind design changes since 2023.
Attendance will be required at occasional in-person workshops and meetings, likely located in Bristol, Cornwall, or Wales. Duration to be reviewed and extended depending on project requirements.
Responsibilities
The main responsibility of the Onshore and Electrical Package Manager is to lead the continued development and optimisation of the Erebus Project electrical system and onshore packages throughout the FEED Update phase and into detailed design and execution. The role will encompass the overall electrical system and onshore export system design scope, ensuring technical, commercial, and delivery requirements are effectively coordinated and managed. Specific duties will include:
- Support HSEQ management across the project, actively contributing towards the zero-harm project objective.
- Lead and manage the onshore and electrical engineering workstreams, including coordination of all key technical interfaces associated with transition joint bay, onshore cables, onshore substation, electrical system, and grid connection infrastructure.
- Undertake a full review, update, and revalidation (where applicable) of existing FEED electrical and onshore designs, specifications, and associated documentation.
- Identify gaps, additional FEED studies, and engineering activities required due to project developments since 2023 and develop plans for delivery.
- Support identification of value engineering activities from an electrical and onshore civil engineering design perspective to support efficient project delivery and commercial optimisation.
- Development of the FEED update phase scope of work for the package.
- Support the identification, procurement, onboarding, and management of internal and external resources required to deliver the FEED update electrical and onshore workstreams.
- Coordinate with wind turbine OEM regarding electrical configuration and associated design impacts, including acquiring the required electrical data for studies from the turbine supplier.
- Ensure foundation power requirements are optimized and can be accommodated by WTG OEM.
- Manage the grid connection bay design within the substation and coordinate technical engagement with NESO and the Transmission System Operator (TSO), NGET, including supporting the interface agreement between the project and the TSO for access requirements within the NGET owned substation.
- Manage and coordinate power system studies and electrical modelling (inclusive of thermal assessment) activities to confirm electrical system design basis and specifications.
- Onshore substation, onshore cables, HDDs, and transition joint bay detailed design development and optimisation and subsequent construction management.
- Onshore civil engineering and construction management and technical support to asset owner engagement including development/management of asset crossing/proximity plans.
- Support the review and potential optimisation of the onshore cable route within the consent boundary.
- Provide technical support for remaining landowner agreement negotiations for the onshore cable route.
- Liaise with the project consents team on engineering design development, flagging any design changes relevant to existing consents as needed.
- Engagement with the supply chain regarding electrical equipment and long lead items to support procurement strategy development and optimisation.
- Support renewed market engagement and EPCI procurement activities, including development of technical documentation, specifications, scopes of work, tender evaluations, and contractor clarifications.
- Manage package scopes, deliverables, budget, and programme including management of suppliers, consultants, and designers associated with the electrical and onshore workstreams.
- Competently review and assess engineering designs, technical reports, and contractor deliverables, ensuring that final outputs are all completed to a high standard.
- Manage additional package resources including a deputy package manager as the project develops.
- Support development of detailed design, project execution, contracting, and delivery strategies for subsequent project phases.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable regulations, standards, grid code requirements, and CDM obligations.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate package risks, issues, and change impacts associated with the electrical and onshore scope.
- Contribute to internal project controls including programme updates, risk registers, and budgets and management reporting requirements.
- Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, briefing notes, and project documentation as required for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Compliance with JV governance requirements/management reporting as required.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement processes across the package.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
