Onsite Engineer

Position Overview

We are looking for an Onsite Engineer (Level 2) to join our business in London.

In this role, you will be dedicated to a single client and will provide a range of software, hardware, and network resolutions. You will diagnose technical issues and guide users through step-by-step solutions in a desktop support-based environment.

This is a great opportunity to be a technical subject matter expert on a reputable client account.

Salary & Benefits

The budgeted salary for this role is between £45,000 and £55,000 a year, depending on experience.

This role is based fully onsite at a client site near Farringdon, London. The working hours are 08:00 - 16:30, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the onsite IT lead and trusted advisor for users and stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities to improve service quality and user experience.
  • Drive continual service improvement initiatives through process optimization and operational efficiencies.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities using tools such as PowerShell, Power Automate, and the Microsoft 365 platform where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive technical documentation and knowledge articles.
  • Reduce recurring incidents through root cause analysis and preventative actions.
  • Work closely with the wider service desk and engineering teams to improve customer outcomes.
  • Continuously improve processes, standards, and ways of working within the support function.
  • Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and a proactive approach to delivering exceptional IT support.

What Success Looks Like

  • Build strong working relationships with users, key stakeholders, and the wider support team.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service and become a trusted and visible point of contact within the office located at the ‘tech Bar’.
  • Successfully take ownership of day-to-day L1 and L2 support activities with minimal supervision.
  • Consistently meet SLA targets and manage tickets through to resolution.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive ticket updates, documentation, and time entries.
  • Follow all BAU, security, change management, and operational processes consistently.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the client's business, technology landscape, and key stakeholders.
  • Contribute positively to team collaboration, knowledge sharing, and service delivery objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

This role is the primary face of IT within the office and requires regular interaction with senior stakeholders, executives, and business leaders. The successful candidate must be able to build trusted relationships, represent the IT function professionally, and deliver a high-quality user experience.

You will have worked in a SLA-driven support environment before, dealing directly with a range of stakeholders.

The right candidate will have the following technical experience:

Essential

  • Microsoft Windows 11 and Windows Server support.
  • Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Entra ID.
  • Active Directory administration and troubleshooting.
  • Microsoft Intune device management.
  • Device Setups through ‘Apple Business Manager’
  • Desktop, laptop, and server hardware support.
  • Networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, VPN, and wireless technologies.
  • Cisco Wireless Technologies
  • Technical troubleshooting across endpoint, server, and cloud environments.
  • Meeting room, AV, and conferencing technology support.
