Join Hampshire County Council's IT Service
We're looking for a motivated and customer-focused Onsite IT Support Technician to join our 2nd Level Support team.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with IT support experience who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers, and developing their technical skills within a large and diverse organisation.
As part of our onsite support team, you'll provide technical assistance across desktop support, user equipment provisioning, and meeting room technology. You'll support colleagues working across Hampshire County Council, ensuring that devices, Microsoft 365 services, and collaboration technology remain available and effective.
What you’ll do
In this varied role, you'll:
- Provide onsite technical support for laptops, desktops, peripherals and meeting room technology
- Diagnose and resolve straightforward IT incidents and service requests
- Configure, deploy and maintain end-user equipment
- Carry out meeting room technology checks and ensure rooms are ready for use
- Support Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 environments
- Maintain equipment inventory records and stock information
- Escalate more complex issues to specialist support teams with clear diagnostic information
- Produce user guidance and technical documentation where required
- Contribute to IT projects and service improvement initiatives

This role is primarily based in Winchester and will require travel to other Hampshire County Council locations when needed.
What we’re looking for
You'll have:
- Experience working in an IT support environment or relevant technical experience
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- The ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues logically and efficiently
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads
- A positive, collaborative approach and enthusiasm for learning new technologies
Experience supporting meeting room technology, audiovisual equipment, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Intune, Configuration Manager or similar device management tools would be advantageous but is not essential.
