CLIENT REPRESENTATIVE – SITE MANAGER (CLIENT SIDE) - SOLAR FARM - SOLAR PV (BIRMINGHAM / WEST MIDLANDS)

Location: Birmingham / West Midlands
Contract: Freelance / Contract
Duration: 15 months
Sector: Renewable Energy – Utility Scale Solar PV

The Opportunity

We are supporting the growth of an expanding renewable energy portfolio and are seeking an experienced Client Representative to provide construction oversight on a utility-scale Solar PV development in the Birmingham area.

Reporting into the project delivery team, you will represent the project owner on site, ensuring construction activities are progressing safely, efficiently and to the expected quality standards. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with EPC contractors while maintaining an independent client-side presence throughout delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the project owner during construction activities.
  • Monitor the EPC contractor's performance across programme, quality, health & safety and technical compliance.
  • Undertake regular site inspections and identify any issues requiring corrective action.
  • Ensure construction works comply with project specifications, design requirements and industry best practice.
  • Review construction progress and validate completed works against the agreed programme.
  • Produce detailed site reports documenting progress, observations and key risks.
  • Challenge contractor methodologies where standards are not being achieved.
  • Support the wider commercial team by providing factual site information relating to progress, variations and construction activities.
  • Attend coordination meetings with contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Escalate significant construction, quality or programme concerns where necessary.

Requirements

  • Previous experience supervising utility-scale renewable energy construction projects.
  • Solar PV experience is highly desirable.
  • Candidates from other renewable technologies will also be considered.
  • Previous experience working either client-side or for an EPC contractor.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with a strong site presence.
  • Good understanding of construction quality management and HSE legislation.
  • Strong written reporting and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Able to work independently while managing contractor performance on behalf of the client.
