Svitzer is looking for an Officer of the Watch to join the Victory, supporting towage operations across UK ports and coastal waters. This is a role that goes beyond routine harbour work—near coastal towage brings variety, challenge, and the expectation that you are switched on, confident and ready to take responsibility.
This is not a passive role. Working as an OOW on a coastal tug demands sound judgement, reliability, teamwork and pride in doing things properly. You’ll live onboard, work hard during your time on, and play a key role in the safe operation of the vessel and the development of the crew around you.

This Is What the Job Really Looks Like
- Working as part of a close-knit crew onboard the Victory in dynamic, real-world operations
- Supporting the Master to deliver safe and efficient towage operations across UK ports and coastal routes
- Taking responsibility for navigational watchkeeping, deck operations and vessel safety
- Acting as Safety Officer, completing health and safety checks and addressing or reporting issues as required
- Helping to manage the crew’s day-to-day activities, including rotas, hours of rest, training and supervision
- Supporting vessel husbandry, planned maintenance, stores and bunkering to keep the Victory operationally ready
- Working flexibly across deck and engine-room duties when required, while completing ongoing training and development

- Competitive salary of £54,605.71 per annum

What You Bring
- STCW II/3 OOW Deck 500GT Near Coastal CoC (Unlimited preferred)
- Harbour, terminal or coastal towage experience
- Valid ENG1 medical and STCW Basic Safety Training (minimum six months’ validity)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- The legal right to live and work in the UK
- Sound judgement, good communication skills and a professional attitude
- Willingness to live and work onboard during your two-week rotation
- Flexibility to operate across UK locations and adapt to the needs of the vessel and operation
