About this opportunity

This is a technical leadership role shaping the future of the OpenShift and Private Cloud platform at Lloyds Banking Group. You’ll lead high-impact engineering initiatives across squads and stakeholders, with accountability for outcomes critical to resilience, security, regulatory compliance and customer experience.

You’ll set the technical direction and engineering standards for OpenShift at scale, balancing enterprise controls with modern cloud-native practices.

You’ll also enable AI, data-intensive, serverless and event-driven workloads safely and consistently, accelerating application teams without compromising control or operability.

You’ll create impact by:

  • Shaping platform strategy and architectural guardrails
  • Aligning Engineering, Security, Architecture and Operations
  • Leading complex decisions and outcomes across multiple teams
  • Raising engineering capability through coaching and influence

What you’ll be doing

You’ll focus on platform-wide outcomes, strategic design and enabling delivery through others, while remaining hands-on where it matters.

Strategy, architecture and innovation

  • Set technical direction and architectural guardrails for OpenShift and supporting hybrid cloud services.
  • Lead high-impact design decisions covering resilience, security, scalability, compliance and sustainability.
  • Evaluate emerging capabilities, vendor roadmaps and proofs of concept, turning them into practical adoption plans.

Delivery, resilience and security

  • Own complex multi-squad initiatives, managing dependencies, operational readiness and safe implementation.
  • Balance immediate delivery with platform health, technical debt, reliability and cost efficiency.
  • Provide senior technical leadership during major incidents and drive preventative improvements.
  • Ensure designs meet the security, audit, availability and recovery requirements of a tier-one financial institution.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
