PLATFORM ENGINEER | OPENSTACK
I’m recruiting an experienced OpenStack Engineer to join a leading UK hybrid cloud and managed services provider.
This isn’t a traditional infrastructure support role. You’ll work behind the scenes on the engineering that powers a secure, highly available cloud platform, building automation, developing backend tooling and onboarding customers into complex OpenStack environments.
The role will involve:
- Engineering and improving OpenStack cloud platforms
- Onboarding new customers and workloads
- Developing backend tooling and automation using Python
- Automating platform provisioning and configuration
- Working with APIs and systems integrations
- Supporting multi-tenant cloud environments
- Troubleshooting complex platform and deployment issues
- Improving CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code processes
- Supporting platform upgrades, resilience and performance
- Working across Linux, Ubuntu, networking and security

What they’re looking for:
- Strong Python scripting or backend engineering skills
- Hands-on experience with OpenStack environments
- Strong Linux and Ubuntu knowledge
- Experience automating infrastructure and operational processes
- An understanding of APIs, integrations and cloud networking
- Experience onboarding customers or deploying workloads onto cloud platforms
- Familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code tooling
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Exposure to Kubernetes and container platforms would be beneficial
