Our Treatment Suite plays a vital role in delivering high-quality surgical and procedural care, supporting patients through every stage of their treatment journey. Working across a range of specialties, the department provides a safe, efficient, and patient-focused environment where clinical excellence, innovation, and compassionate care are at the heart of everything we do.
The service brings together consultants, anaesthetists, nurses, operating department practitioners, and wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure procedures are delivered safely and effectively. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, clinical governance, and service excellence, while providing a calm and reassuring experience for every patient.
About the role
As an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) / Anaesthetic Nurse within the Treatment Suite, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred perioperative care. You will work closely with anaesthetists, consultants, and multidisciplinary colleagues to support patients before, during, and immediately after procedures, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained at all times.
You will be responsible for preparing and maintaining anaesthetic equipment, monitoring patients throughout the perioperative pathway, and providing specialist support during procedures. You will ensure that all equipment, medications, and clinical areas are safe, ready for use, and compliant with relevant standards and protocols.
The role requires excellent clinical knowledge, strong organisational skills, and the ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment. You will support the smooth running of treatment lists, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and help deliver an outstanding patient experience through compassionate, professional care.

This role is ideal for an experienced ODP or Anaesthetic Nurse who is passionate about perioperative practice, committed to patient safety, and motivated to work within a collaborative and high-performing clinical team.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred care throughout the perioperative pathway
- Provide specialist anaesthetic support during procedures within the Treatment Suite
- Prepare, check, and maintain anaesthetic equipment, monitoring devices, and associated consumables
- Assist with patient assessment, monitoring, and recovery in accordance with clinical protocols
- Support anaesthetists and consultants to ensure procedures are carried out safely and efficiently
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic patient records
- Adhere to infection prevention, safeguarding, and information governance standards
- Participate in emergency situations and respond appropriately to deteriorating patients
- Complete governance, equipment, and quality assurance checks as required
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure clinical areas are fully equipped and operational
- Escalate incidents, concerns, or patient issues promptly and appropriately
- Work flexibly to support service delivery and operational requirements
About you
You are a qualified Operating Department Practitioner or Registered Nurse with experience in anaesthetic practice and a strong commitment to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate patient care. You take pride in maintaining the highest clinical standards and are confident supporting patients throughout their perioperative journey.
You communicate clearly and professionally with patients, colleagues, and consultants, helping to create a reassuring environment while ensuring excellent multidisciplinary collaboration. You are highly organised, able to prioritise effectively, and remain calm when working in a busy procedural setting.
