The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital, part of the Akessa Health Care Group, is looking for an experienced, dynamic, and organized theatre manager with a proven background to join our team.

This is an exciting time to join a highly reputable organization and provide the highest standards of care, with significant investment having been made into the hospital, including a brand new operating theatre suite with three state-of-the-art ultra-clean laminar flow operating rooms.

The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital
The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital was established in Aylesbury in 1832 and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region. The ownership of the hospital was transferred to our new management team in January 2023. By joining our existing portfolio, the hospital is now run professionally and provides clinical care to private, insured, and NHS patients with a strong ethos on caring for our staff. Since 2023, the hospital has undergone a multimillion-pound refurbishment project.
The New Foscote Hospital
The New Foscote Hospital has been successfully established in Banbury for over 40 years and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region. We have over 75 consultants, all of whom are leaders in their specialist fields and choose to hold their private practice here, working alongside our friendly, highly qualified, and experienced nursing staff and support teams.

107 Harley Street
107 Harley Street is an outpatient, diagnostic, and day-case facility. The Group has had a presence in the Harley Street area since 2010. The treatments offered at this facility include oral and maxillofacial surgery, dermatology, orthodontics, and specialist dentistry, plastic and cosmetic surgery, general surgery, and rheumatology.
The clinical outcomes of the hospital group are of the highest standards, and the latest CQC report rated our hospital standards as 'good' across all parameters. Our organization has strong IT, operational, clinical governance, and accountancy support. The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high standards of clinical patient care within the operating theatre department. This includes the recovery area and the repatriation of patients back to ward-based areas.
Core Responsibilities
- A 'hands-on' role, leading by example.
- Provide administrative, organizational, and managerial leadership.
- To work with the Theatre Director and Deputy Theatre Manager in the delivery, standards, and management of patient care within the theatre suite.
- Recognize the Consultant Surgeon's key role and support them with their clinical and administrative assistance as required.
- Maximize theatre utilization across both theatres 6 days per week.
- Ensure effective use of resources.
- Harness the use of new technologies where appropriate.
- Monitor and assist in the continued audit of patient outcomes.
- Encourage, develop, and enhance the skills, knowledge, and clinical competencies of all theatre staff and of self.
- Promote best evidence-based practice.
- Apply and ensure others comply with legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Respect the patient's dignity, privacy, wishes, and beliefs.
- Lead the multi-disciplinary team, providing high-quality pre and post-operative patient-centred care and customer service.
- Provide guidance, support, and clinical scrub expertise and leadership to the Theatre team.
- Ensure that theatres are prepared for use on a daily basis in line with quality standards.
- Comply with internal procedures to ensure equipment is maintained/serviced in line with manufacturer's instructions, reporting any defects.
- Ensure that all required documentation (legal, quality, or other) is accurately maintained.
- In accordance with policies and procedures, ensure that medicines administration and management is carried out appropriately.
- Coordinate and maintain adequate stock levels of drugs, stores, and implants, liaising with the Theatre Manager and Procurement.
- Maintain effective communication across the hospital, including with patients, team members, and consultants.

Who We Are Looking For
Essential
- Registered with the NMC or HCPC.
- Strong clinical background as a Senior Scrub Practitioner in all types of surgery, including but not limited to; general, orthopedic, ENT, ophthalmic, cosmetic/plastic.
- Ability to demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, take accountability, and respond to urgent matters in a calm, well-measured, and informed manner.
- Basic IT skills.
- Ability to present information accurately, clearly, and concisely.
Desirable
- Surgical First Assistant trained/qualified.
- Ability to demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, take accountability, and respond to urgent matters in a calm, well-measured, and informed manner.
- Ability to present information accurately, clearly, and concisely.
- Basic IT skills.
