Operation Manager

The Operation Manager is responsible for ensuring that all Workshop operations are carried out in a safe and compliant manner and all work being carried is being carried out safely and has all the correct documentation. Through interaction with the Project Managers and Customers, he will ensure work is carried out as per the priorities required and ensure that all jobs are carried out in an efficient manner without compromising safety or quality.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all work is being carried out in a safe manner and that all documentation such as permits and JSA are being kept up to date
  • Lead a team of Workshop Technicians and supervisors and support staff to achieve results
  • Liaise with Regional and Country Managers to determine actions going forward
  • Plan for monthly, quarterly and yearly financial results and maintain revenue and margin as per Financial Plan
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Planners and Customers to ensure work is flowing through the shop as per priorities requested by each function
  • Ensure all workshop equipment and tooling is in good condition and all cranes, compressors, generators, etc. are serviced and within certification
  • Attend all meetings such as HSE meetings or Town Hall meetings and give information when required
  • Ensure housekeeping of workshop, yard and office at a high cleanliness level
  • Be proactive and if any job is in danger of late delivery look at ways to get back to on time delivery
  • Carry out all assigned training and ensure subordinates are doing the required training
  • Provide assistance into all functions at the base and act as focal point if needed

Qualification/Requirements:

  • Degree qualification in Engineering or Science based subject
  • 10+ years in the Subsea equipment range of products particularly Xmas Trees
  • Fully computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Assist Commercial Team to identify operational hours and spares required for each job
  • Mentor the team and Integrate with other teams
  • Fully conversant with Procedures and ability to understand drawings
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Helping the company to promote high morale and communicate the company’s operating policies, customer issues and safety measures
  • Working knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry technical and regulatory framework
  • Manage budgets and forecasts

Desired Characteristics:

  • Specific experience in Subsea equipment
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good leadership qualities with the ability to provide direction
  • Working knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry technical and regulatory framework
  • Familiar with industry standards such as API, ISO, etc.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within a matrix organization
  • Ability to effectively perform & contribute in a matrix team environment
  • Ability to travel where required
  • Ability to improve Operational Best practices and improve systems and processes
