Help Keep the Royal Navy Mission-Ready. Build a Career Supporting the Maintenance and Refit of World-Class Warships.

At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Operation Support Engineer at our Plymouth, Devon site.

The role

As an Operation Support Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll play a vital role in supporting the safe and efficient maintenance, repair and refit of Royal Navy warships. Working at the heart of our Warship Support business, you'll help coordinate critical engineering and operational activities that directly contribute to national defence and security.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving and working in a fast-paced operational environment. You'll collaborate with engineers, subcontractors and project teams to ensure work is planned, documented and delivered safely and effectively. In return, you'll gain valuable experience within a complex marine engineering environment while developing your career with one of the UK's leading defence organisations.

  • Manage scaffold requests and ensuring work requirements are processed efficiently and within project timescales.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
